The Dead Sea: Has anyone ever explored its depths for the ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah?

I went there when I was so very young, floated around, saw the salt pillar fka Lot's wife (Bible never does say her name), and got really soft skin for a few hours. But I wondered then and I wonder now, if anyone ever tried to see whether there were ancient towns down there.

  2. The lower levels of the Dead Sea have produced some surprising finds. One of the more recent was a well preserved boat.

The sea is over 1,000 feet deep so something might still be under it. Sodom and Gomorrah appear to be on the shores.

Two questions I always had: Why was Lot considered so good and honest when he offers his kids up for mass rape? Second we know what sodomy was, what the heck was gommorrahy?

  3. I was watching a archeology show on History Channel. Wasn't really paying close attention to it, but there are remains high on dry land that the host said were about 70 percent likely to be Sodom, and another site, to be Gomorrah. The evidence fit enough to be strong evidence, but not conclusive.

  4. .....I saw a special on the history channel about finding the ancient city of Sodom and Gomorrah....without going into a "War & Peace " deal here ( I'm tired)...let's just say , if you watched this show, there wouldn't be any doubt in your mind......this brings to mind the elementary school child's answer to a Bible question about Lot's wife.....he said "Lot's wife was a pillar of salt at night, but a fireball by day"....hahaha.......I have often thought about the story.....think about it.......the hwole neighborhood is outside your door, hollering and screaming to "ravish" your guests......so since hospitality was a "big deal" back then.......the two young daughters, who were virgins, get offered up as a consolation prize.....better yet.......the crowd of horny neighbors turns down this offer.......who were these people ....and hodid they get soooo far gone........NO WONDER ......God destroyed this wicked city........and the big point.....so excellently made ....was.......don't look back......Lot's wife just couldn't let go of the things of this world.....like the rich man wanting to be a disciple, who couldn't give up all his earthly belongings and riches....... archeology has never disproved any of the Bible....and lately.....has only served to substantiate what Christians have always believed , by faith.......they have been digging around Pompeii too ......donkeys were preserved perfectly at the wheat grinding  places.....people were frozen in their positions because they were taken by surprise......another special explored the parting of the Red Sea by Moses......sattellite imagery has contributed to uncovering the mystery here and how the earth's changing landscape has covered up ancient rivers and lakes and the sort........good question....here's a star ...for a star....... I got the quote wrong....it was pillar of salt by day, and a fireball  by night...LOL.....to Magical --good one......I think Lot rode on Abraham's coat tails , by the hair of his chinny chin chin.....

  5. I think they've been discovered already..

  6. There has been a documentary made of the discoveries of Sodom and Gomorrah.  See Source below.  I have seen the footage of this particular evidence myself and it is very convincing.  It is in the Bible so for me there should be no doubt that it must exist.
