and leave out the middle class. What is the Republican response to this claim and why isn't Bush actively presenting arguments and statistics to support his beliefs. I mean, he has access to professional economists and speech writers, why not use them?

  1. First of all, corporations don't get tax breaks, they get incentives. These incentives coerce corporations to invest in area's or cities. Toyota received huge incentives to build a factory in San Antonio, Texas. These incentives brought 1,000's of new jobs to the area, reviving a stagnant area of town. It also brought with it new housing, which also brought more jobs.

The only people that didn't benefit from the Bush tax cuts is the people that don't pay taxes, and those people got no jobs anyway.

Democrats want to balance the budget by increasing revenue, instead of cutting expenditures. This is like me or you giving ourselves a raise because we want a new TV or car. The problem with raising taxes instead of cutting expenditures is that eventually people run out of money they can pay. During the Carter years, the American people paid over 50% of their wages in taxes. That wasn't the top 5%, that was middle class folks.

  2. u r not really studying this ..don't let the major net works deceive u...

  3. Tax on corporations are passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices.  When US prices get higher than Foreign corporations US companies don't compete, lose market share, lay off workers and go bust.

Who is the middle class?  The tax we pay is simple math per the tax rate schedules.

Are we taxed too much? or does the government spend to much?

  4. Because the facts won't support that argument

  5. John McCain recently said it best for the Republicans

he thinks you are not rich unless you make 5 million a year !!!

  6. Who signs your paycheck?

The corperations? The more money they have, the bigger their budget gets, the bigger their budget, teh more they can hire. the more they hire, the more we spend, the more they spend, work for everyone, money back into our economy

  7. Pfft and the democrats don't leave out the middle...they just tax it too death.

  8. The problem with your solution is the same as the problem with proving or disproving global warming.  Scientists and Economists both work in Theories.  For every Economist the right brings out to explain trickle-down economics, or the Laffer Curve, the left will bring out one who says that hand-outs to the poor stimulate the economy just the same.

You question is based in the wrong premise.  The question is not about economic theories, it is about morality.  The two competing morals are: Should the people who work hard be rewarded (and be able to keep that reward), versus "From Each According to Their Abilities, To Each According to Their Needs."

President Bush should feel no more of a need to defend such a basic morality than he should feel a need to explain why murder is bad.

It is up to each of us to decide for ourselves which moral code we subscribe to: Hard Work=Big Rewards, or Steal from the Rich and Give to the Poor?
