  1. look i was in new orleans during katrina and it wasnt that bad, we were actually on the west side , its was the idiots from the army corp who screwed over the people of new orleans, the storm had passed a few hours and then we start seeing water just getting higher cause them d**n walls they built over topped and just washed the wall aways and it took a few hours for it to flow towards the other parts of the city .yes water will top over the levee but think of a tub when u roll back in it and water flows out on the floor , it puts a little water on the floor but then take a sledge hammer to it and then see all the water. well that was pretty much the army corps design , d**n idiots call themselves engineers  .

so when you think of katrina dont think of the storm doing the damage it was the corp of engineers who got those people killed and thats the truth .  now on the MS gulf coast that was pure storm damage from 29 foot waves  flattening houses

new orleans is one of the oldest citys in america , and it survived all them years until they  start redirecting the flow of thge mississippi river which  screwed up the wetlands , when man messes with gods creation  disaster happens

  2. No.But I do think they should come up with a sea wall of some kind,if you are going to waste money at least waste it wisely,if even that can be said. The hurricane seasons seem to be getting worse,so certainly some better precautions should be taken. But its the same with tornadoes, you just can't do anything until it hits, then it's too late.

  3. For the most part it should be. There are oil platforms and shipping ports that are vital in the New Orleans area-those will need to be rebuilt and maintained. But as far as the city itself-the businesses and tourist attractions-well if its destroyed again its time to think about rebuilding New Orleans north of where it is now..It doesnt need to die-it just needs moved inland where it will be safe from Hurricanes.

  4. i do to many times in this i live here so it just getting worse with the hurricanes they might just give up cuz both banks are supposed to flood  im a little worried

  5. they should move Mardi Gras to orlando

  6. It should be. How much are you willing to continue to pay to rebuild? Again. A city 8 - 12ft' below sea level and the government only rebuilt the levees to a cat 3? To repeat a Katrina?

  7. No, it won't be permanently abandoned. People will come back.

  8. no.

the actual city of new orleans has too many historical districts and too much of a vibrant atmosphere to ever die.  I do believe that alot of the areas below the city closer to the gulf will begin to disintegrate and die off, but new orleans itself will be around until global warming does it in.  can you imagine having mardi gras anywhere else?  ive youve ever been, you know the answer is no.

  9. Uh, no! That's the dumbest question!

  10. definitely not.

  11. there are some strange forces at work in nature these hurricanes and floods and earth quakes  tornadosefollowing the same old paths year in year out and getting ever stronger over time.and more frequent and servere

  12. I dont think so and i really hope not! People dont realize the importance of New Orleans to ALL people in Louisiana..It has been a fun place to visit since I was a little girl....and I would never expect people to give up on it. I agree with what was said before..There needs to be some major work to the levees..I'm no engineer,,,but there has to be some way to repair this problem.even if it would make NO smaller..at least it would still be alive!!
