The Dish or Cable TV?

I am thinking of upgrading my tv experience from free broadcast tv to something else. For the money which one is better?Cable or dish? What are the pros and cons.I've heard many make the comment that they get umpteen channels but can't find a thing to watch. Is there any truth to that.
