  1. Isn't this what your doctor should be telling you, not the people here?

    Why go through a colonoscopy if you do not intend to follow what he tells you?

There are actually quite a few anti-inflammatories that target the GI tract or the colon in particular.  Definitely the doctor should be choosing the specific medication, since he/she is the one who saw your specific colonoscopy.  The treatment would partially depend on the location (the colon is a large organ) and the extent of the inflammation.

    I agree with the previous answer that 2 weeks of metronidazole is often a good idea, but we can't say for sure without knowing your history or the details of this episode.  And you'll probably want some type of anti-inflammatory to treat the chronic aspect, because the antibiotic is more of a temporary measure to get everything under control.

  3. Metronidazole(Flagyl) for a fortnight is all that may be prescribed
