  2. I found this poem while researching for your question. THought of sharing it with you:

    Divine Feline

    Bast, Devouring Lady,

    Lady of Truth

    Thousands of years

    we shared the same planet

    Thousands of years

    hast thou protected us

    Thousand of years

    do we hold thee sacred

    Divine Feline,

    Mysterious Cat,

    Lady of the East

thou unite in thee the two opposite

    powers of nature

Gentle and caring mother of kittens

    Tearer of mice and rats

    Protectress of mankind

thou are the mistress of joy

thou are the mistress of pleasure

thou are the mistress of dance and ecstasy

    Divine Feline,

    Goddess of the Birth Chamber

    Light Bearer,

To live with thy incarnations is a pleasure

To watch thy behavior is teaching us

To run with thee in dreams

is honoring thee and following thy path.

    Always free

    Always solitaire

    Always independent

    Never ungentle

  3. I, too, am looking for a male counterpart/husband of Bastet/Bast.  So far, the only source I've seen is wiki which says:  Maahes (also spelled Mihos, Miysis, Mios, Maihes, and Mahes) was an ancient Egyptian lion-headed god of war, whose name means "he who is true beside her". He was seen as a lion prince, the son of the goddess Bast in Lower Egypt and of Sekhmet in Upper Egypt and shared their natures.

However, Sekhmet seems to be depicted sometimes as a goddess and sometimes as a god. . .

Also, it seems like Bastet was really close to Ra, they both being solar deities and all.  Again, though, the only source I found was wiki which had to say:  As protector, she was seen as defender of the pharaoh, and consequently of the later chief male deity, Ra, who was a solar deity also, gaining her the titles Lady of Flame and Eye of Ra.

And again, another god is associated with her as well.  Wiki also said:  when Anubis became the god of embalming, Bast, as goddess of ointment, came to be regarded as his wife. The association of Bastet as mother of Anubis, was broken years later when Anubis became Nephthys' son.

I'm not sure how much this helps, but I'll keep looking for something more concrete.

  4. Bastet = Ba-n-Aset

    [ba] = the soul . [n] = of . [Aset] = Isis for Romans

Daughter of the sun god Ra, wife of Ptah, and mother of Mihos.

She appeared in a woman with the head of a cat or a cat. She was the Egyptian Goddess of pleasure, music, dancing and joy, usually seen as a gentle protective goddess. However, she sometimes appeared with the head of a lioness to protect the king in battle, and associated with the Eye of Ra, acting as the instrument of the Sun God's vengeance.

Her worship began around the year 3200 BCE during the second dynasty in northern Egypt and her city is Bubastis (Per-Bast = [house of Ba-Aset], today Tell-Basta). A temple was built for her there, that full of cats who were carried around in baskets.

"Other temples are greater and more costly, but none more pleasing to the eye than this." - Herodotus, Histories Book II, Chap. 137.

    Hope i helped :)
