The new coach was determined to improve UAE’s Intercontinental ranking and said that he does not need to make tall claims as Afghanistan’s example is enough to support his point.
Before the important tournament in Nairobi, Kabir worked very hard with his boys and prepared them well to face the stronger team in the ICC Intercontinental Tournament.
The players of the team are also well prepared and confident that they can do well in the tournament. Eight teams are participating in the tournament, 6 of which are the top Associate and Affiliate teams.
This will provide UAE with great exposure and chance to play cricket against experienced sides. The participants are: Afghanistan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756.
The captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khurram-Khan-c71386, believes that his team has practised well under Kabir’s supervision and has the spark to make its presence felt.
The ECB’s manager, Mohammad Lokhandwala, said, “All the boys have done very well on the domestic circuit which is quite competitive. And if they play to their potential, I am sure we can make an early mark. Most of the players in the squad have the experience
of competing at this level of the game and hence they know what to expect.”
The captain, coach and manager are of the opinion that the tournament is quite long and in entirely different conditions, hence the boys will have to make efforts to adjust and perform well.
