The English U21 hockey side outclassed their Scottish counterparts by 7-1 in their second, a highly entertaining, match of the two match test series played in Inverclyde, Scotland, played on Sunday, August 21.
"We are using these games against England as part of our assessment programme for the Europeans where there are also places for the Junior World Cup 2013 at stake,” Derek Forsyth, the coach of the Scottish U21 Men’s hockey side, stated about the matches
as the part of their preparation for the U21 European Championships to be held in Den Bosch, Netherlands.

after every ten minutes on average.
The English remained matchless in their process of seven goals where they scored four goals in the first thirty five minutes while three in the second half whereas the hosts could tick the scoreboard only for once in the match.
The English team started the first half with scintillating pace and scored their first four goals just in a time of nine minutes. David Goodfield opened the English account in the starting minutes of the match and just moments after the opener, lead was
doubled by Nick Copper with a beautiful shot. England scored their third goal minutes after the second when James Spain netted the ball and the scoring line was completed by David Condon. The first half ended at 4-0 to England.
The English team scored their fifth goal in the start of the second half but the Scottish replied just few minutes after. However, the English finished their action by scoring two more goals each from James Spain and Ben Stoney.
Meanwhile, in their previous match of the two match test series, the English U21 athletes recorded a narrow a victory over their Scottish counterparts by margin of a single strike. The game was highly competitive in which a relatively new looking Scottish
side gave a tough time to the English who enjoyed the possession of the ball for most of the time during the first thirty five minutes.
The Scottish athletes showed some solid efforts in their defence and kept the English U21 boys scoreless in the first half, especially the goalkeeper, Blair Fotherinham, made a wonderful save to keep the score level until the interval.
However, in the second half, the English boys eventually succeeded to score the winning goal in spite of some solid defence by the Scottish side. It was just ten minutes to close the play when Phil Roper converted a penalty corner into the deciding goal
of the match.
