The English trainer Stephens’s ace Olivers Twist proves to be a real go getter in the 2011 Irish Grand National Final

The race card of Harold’s Cross placed the English trainers in the middle of the lime light, due to their impressive wins. Right after trainer J Foster’s victory in the Consolation, another English trainer Stephens enjoyed the glee of his triumph, attained
in the 2011 Irish Grand National Final.
On the 28th of October 2011, the Grade OR chase covering the trip of 525 yards, declared the black dog Olivers Twist, the worthy winner of the €3500 purse.
The trap 4 racer was not sent with favourable odds, but his fanatical lure chase helped him in presenting an eye catching performance for trainer Stephens.
The three-year-old wearing black and white jacket was swift and rapid from the beginning.
On the other side trainer D Ruth’s Baran Bally Hi, with the most ideal odds commenced his chase in extremely lethargic manner. His slow chase was the only reason due to which he was left far behind.
On the other side trainer Stephens’s Olivers Twist, took full advantage of the situation and rallied through the lot of hounds with his amazing speed.
Eventually the three-year-old dog assumed the leaders’ position, enduring the precious spot the hound accomplished in crossing the wire at first place.
Besides reaching the destination in total 29.05 seconds, Olivers Twist proficiently over threw Baran Bally Hi by 2 ½ lengths.
Trainer D Ruth’s hound tried every chance, but the situation went in over his head. In 29.25 seconds Baran Bally Hi finished his quest by the skin of his teeth.
Third and fourth place was acquired by Jason Foster’s hounds. His black dog Clonkeen Theo, who was extremely slow with his rallying speed managed to wrap up his lure chase with third position.
The three-year-old dog strived a lot, but it was too late for him to try his luck. Losing the purse by 5 lengths, Clonkeen Theo vanquished Dooey Royal by 4 ½ lengths.
The brindle and white hound tragically did not accomplish in availing the chance to hit the wire. The two-year-old took 30.01 seconds to conclude his final chase.
Tee Bone who was placed in trap 1 for trainer G McKenna managed to cross over at fifth place. His gradual run was the only hitch in his victory.
Reaching the finish line at sixth place was Bingo Boy, a white and black dog in for trainer F Black. By a head distance the two-year-old was over thrown by Tee bone.
The show no doubt spotlighted the English trainer Stephens, who was given a chance to enjoy the elation of victory earned by Olivers Twist, in the 2011 Irish Grand National Final.
