  1. Because of what it cost to manufacture.

  2. Actually, ethanol at present is a loser: in the US, it takes about 90,000 BTU of energy to make a gallon of ethanol, which contains about 85,000 BTU.  So every grain of corn which is converted to fuel ethanol is wasted.  Brazil does better: sugar cane ethanol can be produced more cheaply, and Brazil uses a lot of the stuff for fuel.

  3. yeah ethanol is going to be expensive to manufacture and produce will get expensive too, air cars are pretty cool tho I think they make for a good solution to gas check out the videos on ConvertToAir.com to check them out

  4. Ethanol is not going to save the world.  The cost of it is far more than dollars and cents.  Corn and other  food oils such as soy bean oil are being diverted.  Many people are having a severely difficult time affording even the simplest foods because of it.  Corn is a scam when fuel is concerned. the yield is small when compared to the water, pesticides, crop land and transport costs.  It was foisted on us by a strong ag lobby and supported by crooked Dems and Repubs.

  5. Because it costs too much to make and still uses oil. Use natural gas instead like I do for my 2 cars, and you'll be miles ahead. Less than $10 to fill up, cleaner than gasoline by 99%, and there's lots of it!

  6. remember that the price of ethanol is tied to the commodities market just like crude oil, and things are worse in that market than in the oil markets. sugar cane based ethanol is far better than corn based ethanol because you get much higher yields, and you dont hurt the food market.

another issue with ethanil is that it really doesnt lower the emissions output of an internal combustion engine. that myth came about in the early 70's when emission testing first became a reality in california, and people were doing what they could to reduce emissions. it was found that when ethanol was mixed with gasoline that the indicated emissions went down, thus the myth that ethanol reduces emissions. what was found though is that ethanol burns much colder than gasoline, and the sensors used were not able to read ethanol emissions.

  7. 1.) Because it costs a bit to manufacture it

2.) Because it comes from corn which also goes to feed for animals and as food for us. (demand)
