  1. Yes. All money from your FAFSA will help pay for all aspects of your college education.

For example, my PLUS and Stafford loan money go directly to my university, they deduct the cost of my tuition and  housing/ meal plan fees, the rest of the money is deposited into my bank account for use for books, etc.

  2. If I recall, any financial aid money received for college is for college expenses (unless stated otherwise), and is not limited to only tuition.  So I'm 99% sure it can be used for room and board.  Check with your college to make sure.

  3. Your school will base your financial aid award on the COA(Cost of Attendance) at your school. The COA includes tuition, books, and fees. If you are going to be living on campus, then it will include room and board. This is why you have to tell them what your housing plans are on the FAFSA.

Be prepared to pay something out of pocket though as in my experience, the financial aid packages including loans, don't always cover 100% of the cost.

  4. It can also include a dorm and meal plan as well... if you qualify for enough to cover that.
