  2. Check with your bank or credit union. They would have info on additional insurance if they participate in the additional coverage. They likely have a company that insures the excess of $100k for them & I doubt you can get it on your own. It does exist, but this is something you would have to pay for out of pocket as the bank will only pay for the $100k coverage.

    EDIT:

    Yes, there is. You just have to see if your bank participates in providing the insurance. Not all do. My credit union does.

  3. I would break up your accounts if you have over 100k in them since they are not FDIC insured for amounts over that.
