  1. The term "Feminine Mystique" refers to the malaise many American women felt. It should be noted that the term mostly describes middle-class women; women from other socioeconomic groups had jobs outside the home.

Middle-class and upper-class American women were expected to stay home, keep house and care for children, yet increasingly many felt unsatisfied with this life.

I'm not sure if you are referring to the book or the feeling.  The book ignited the modern women's movement; instead of fighting for strictly political rights, the new women's movement was about economic rights and personal fulfillment.  The book is also widely regarded as the most influential nonfiction book ever written.

  2. First, you have to realize there is no way in words to describe the 1960s. You will only get a small idea of the way it was. In the US it was a real revolution in many ways. The news on all three channels were alive with war and civil rights protests, the space program was new and exciting. For the first time Americans got to see a war on TV in their livings room and it was a bad war. Covered in jungle leaves and helicopters everywhere.  Asian children running in fear and young Americans dying daily with the death count announced every night on the 6 o'clock news.  It was future shock before future shock was a concept. Assinations, college unrest, peace signs and the drug culture making its debut. Was the womens movement noticed? not as much as one would think, there was just too much going on.  Did it make changes, yes, women changed but alas, men didn't.

  3. The same way as the Masculine Mystique did, but only different!
