The Fugue, a risk worth taking in Investec Oaks at Epsom
Time has come for the biggest entertainment of the season, as Investec Oaks takes place at Epsom on Friday, June 1st. In search of a hefty cash prize worth £207,842, more than a dozen runners are geared up to do their best on a good surface at
Epsom.
Among the confirmed participants are: Maybe, The Fugue, Vow, Kissed, Kailani, Colima, Shirocco Star, Coquet, Betterbetterbetter, Twirl, Was, Devotion and Nayarra. The 1m4f10y event is scheduled to begin at 16:05 GMT.
There are plenty of talented runners in the abovementioned line-up, but The Fugue seems to be the most fascinating. Despite the fact that the 3-year-old has not earned the highest starting price, her chances of seizing the top rank are super bright.
She has been running tremendously on fast surface over the past few weeks and with favourable conditions at Epsom, there is no reason why she should not have a big run. John Gosden’s trainee made only a single outing last season, when she won E B F "Makfi"
Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Div II) at Newmarket.
After staying out of action for more than half a year, the brown filly returned to action last month. The Group 1 Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes at Newmarket saw her remaining unlucky, as she missed the third place by ¾ a length.
After suffering an embarrassing loss, the rampant filly didn’t lose her confidence and performed superbly last time out. In the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes, the Lord Lloyd-Webber-owned topped the chart by four and a half lengths.
With such a forceful win under her belt, the filly is pumped up with confidence. She is going to have favourable conditions at Epsom and therefore, holds the best chance of pocketing the big prize.
On the other hand, Maybe is heading the market following a few good efforts lately. Vow and Kissed are also in good shape these days, but according to our calculations, they would find it difficult to outpace The Fugue.
On a good surface, The Fugue is unlikely to let anyone spoil her party, despite the fact that she will have to remain flawless right through the race. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
