The Fugue has to be the one to beat in the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks (British Champions Series) (Fillies And Mares) after putting an impressive show and a strong form at Goodwood recently. She will have to take down six runners who are three-year-old
or above. They will race at York over a mile and four furlong on Thursday, 23rd August for getting entitled to the £175,801 prize money.
Out of the six career outings of the three-year-old, five have been graded races ranging from grade 1 to grade 3. Having raced just once during the previous season to clear the maiden means that the brown filly has not raced in any other company besides
the graded ever since the new season dawned.
The John Gosden trained entered the season with a fourth position in the Group 1 Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes (British Champions Series) on 6th May, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile.
The second trip of the four-year-old brown filly with jockey, William Buick, got the pair to the winners’ enclosure.
The Fugue won the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes (Fillies) on 16th May, 2012 at York over a mile and 2 ½ furlongs. She tracked the leaders, shifting to the left, got the lead for over two furlongs out, stayed strong in the final furlong and
defeated the favourite runner-up of the race, Twirl, by 4 ½ lengths.
Filling up the third spot behind the winner was, Esentepe.
The Lord Lloyd-Webber owned could not come clean in the next two races but did grab decent positions. Dansili’s daughter was entered as the favourite in the Group 1 Investec Oaks (Fillies) on 1st June, 2012 at Epsom over a mile and four furlongs.
She ended third while the race was won by, Was, who edged past the runner-up, Shirocco Star, by a neck’s margin.
She then posted an honorable second position in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at the Royal Ascot on 21st June, 2012.
The success in the Group 1 Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes (British Champions Series) at Goodwood on 4th August, 2012 has surged her chances of winning today to 2 to 1.
She has drawn the second gate and will race out of it with jockey, William Buick.
