The Fugue to set stride in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York on 16th May
After finishing fourth in the Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes on 6th May at Newmarket over a mile, The Fugue is being targeted for the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York on Wednesday, 16th May.
The trainer, John Gosden, said: "She ran a nice race at Newmarket in the 1000 Guineas, especially as one ran into the back of her after a furlong or so, which meant she lost her stride for a bit.
"However, she finished the race strongly and has been in good form since. She lacks racing experience and we are keen to run her to see which route we go down - whether we stay at a mile and a quarter or go a mile and a half. Unfortunately the races come quite close together but I'm happy with her."
The main target for Dansili’s three-year-old brown filly out of mare, Twyla Tharp, is the Investec Oaks at Epsom that are scheduled for the next month. Very few are able to prove themselves worthy for such a challenge with just two career starts.
The Fugue won the E B F “Makfi” Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Division II) on 29th October at Newmarket over seven furlongs. Riding with Robert Havlin, she led the runner up, Salacia, by one and a half lengths.
The 11/4 favourite of the race, No Compromise, ended fourth on the line-up of twelve.
Her performance in the Qipco 1000 Guineas was highly impressive too, provided that it was her first ever graded stakes race.
An entry whom she will need to look out for in the race is Twirl, Galileo’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Butterfly Cove.
She won the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO Fillies Maiden on 6th November, 2011 at Leopardstown over seven furlongs.
The 10/11 favourite of the race led the track by six and a half lengths.
Till yet her most important race was the Group 3 Lodge Park Stud European Breeders Fund Park Express Stakes on 25th March at Curragh over a mile.
Twirl was the 7/4 favourite runner up of the race and will race through the second outing of the season through the start.
Aidan O’Brien’s under charge does have the ability to threaten The Fugue.
Both have turned out to be great fillies with short experience and yet again have a challenge to pull themselves through.
