The G.I.Bill?

Question

Ok so my dad and i were talking yesterday about how he should have the opportunity to go to school using the G.I. bill. Now what we dont know is that since he's a retired vet is he still eligable? Can Someone plz help up figure it out because he plans to used 2 yrs of it and give the other 2 yrs to me for college.

If it was in his contract when he signed up for the military, then I believe he has 10 years to use it, even if he is retired.  As far as how he uses it, he has to be in school to get it and the amount he get depends on how many classes he is taking.  Also he can't give you 2 years of it, as far as I know.  If you find out else wise, let me know cause I'd like to get the rest of mine in cash.  Use this website for info... http://www.gibill.va.gov/

On www.gibill.va.gov , you have the ability to email a VA Benefits Representative wo can answer all your questions. They have a database of all veterans and can tell you what your dad qualifies for.

Also, late last month, the President passed new GI Bill laws that afford your dad the opportunity to pass on his GI Bill to you. It's called the Enhancement of Recruitment, Retention and Readjustment Through Education Act of 2008 (H.R. 5944)

No one who answers your question here on Yahoo! Answers can tell you if your dad qualifies. Qualification is based on several factors of his military career tha only he and the VA knows.
