The G36C is back, 29 guns confirmed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 revealed– Assault Rifles – Part 2
After seeing the various Sub Machine Guns which Modern Warfare 3 will offer, it is now time to move on to the weapons which Modern Warfare players rely on the most.
Providing a balance between range, firepower and fire rate, the Assault Rifles are the bread and butter of the Modern Warfare experience. While they can hold their own in close quarters combat, their real strength lies in the adaptability to a number of different scenarios.
Fans of the series (read ‘half the Earth’s population) will be pleased to know that the majority of their favourites from previous Modern Warfare titles have returned, and an old weapon has been reintroduced.
However, at the same time, a couple of weapons have been slashed including the FAL and M16. While it is unclear at this point whether or not they will be added into the game, be it before the game’s release or after it in the form of a DLC, one can be sure that their presence will be missed.
First up on the list is a weapon every Modern Warfare 2 would have used extensively: The ACR, Adaptive Combat Rifle. Known in Modern Warfare 2 for having almost no recoil whatsoever, the weapon was deadly in the hands of any player, regardless of his or her skill level.
The weapon, if combined with the right combination of in-game perks, was devastating and hopefully, for the sake of keeping things balanced in Modern Warfare 3, SledgeHammer will be looking to tone it down somewhat.
The next firearm is one that carried with it a whole lot of prestige. Unlocked when players reached Level 70, the weapon was the players reward for amassing an insane amount of points.
The weapon itself lived up to the expectations as it was a force to be reckoned with. The question remains however, as to when the weapon will be made available this time around.
The FAMAS is another weapon that is making its way onto Modern Warfare 3 after its debut in the previous Modern Warfare title. Lethal at medium to long-ish range, the three-round burst of hot lead ensured that if opposing players were between the cross-hairs, they -more often than not- would end up on the floor.
Another old boy, or gun, if the reader is touchy on the subject, making its return to the Modern Warfare series after its absence in the second iteration of the Modern Warfare series, is the G36C. Again, the weapon was a solid choice, yet it was never anyone’s favourite and would easily be passed up if players were presented with other firearm options.
Infinity Ward dropped it for that reason, but SledgeHammer seem to have seen something in the weapon, hence their decision to have it replace the M16 and the FAL.
The M4A1 is back as well and is probably the most used assault rifle in the game that is, once it is unlocked. With a perfect balance in all the attributes an assault rifle should have, it is sure to continue where it left off in Modern Warfare 2: the gamer’s hands.
While many may have heard of the SCAR-H, Modern Warfare will see the introduction of a new member of the SCAR family with the SCAR-L. Not much is known about the gun, in terms of how it will handle in the game, but if it is anything like the SCAR-H, it should settle quite quickly.
That is all from the Assault Rifle side of Modern Warfare 3, however readers are reminded that while these weapons have been confirmed, there could be additions later on.
