The Game of Life Twists and Turns?

For Christmas I got The Game of Life Twists and turns and I'm confused on what the career cards and the scorce cards do. I checked the directions and I still don't get it. Any help? First person to answer right gets ten points!

you get a career as your job and you stick it on the score cards. You can get promotions and move up your career card, getting a higher salary. Also, the score cards are for keeping track of which houses you have, if you're married, have kids, etc. You just stick the arrows on the things you have accomplished. You also stick the career card to the score card (where it says to stick it)
