It's due to be turned on this month.I know it's something to do with black holes and time travel but can somebody throw a bit more light on this for me please and tell me what it's all about and the possible disasters that 'could' happen? Thanks.

  1. No danger from it - it is deep underground between Switzerland and France . They only collide a couple of atoms at a time - so very little energy is released.

  2. I've written an article that involves the LHC, or the Geneva atom smasher.

    check it out, http://readthething.blogspot.com/

Basically its a giant machine, under the ground that smashes atoms, or different subatomic particles, (neutrons, electrons, and protons.) together, and records what happens.

In truth the 'scientists' don't know whats going to happen, however the most likely outcomes have been outlined. It will either, create a new subatomic particle, that has a irresistible negative energy, and hence it could absorb the known universe, and effectively destroy everything, or it could provide an endless exothermic reaction, that would be a renewable energy resource.

Th Black holes and wormholes (the time travel bit) are supposedly created by passing the atoms incredibly close o each other at extremely high speeds and when they're packed with energy, the expectation spawns from the quantum theory.

    Hope this helped.
