The Giant Bolster listed for Betfred Peterborough Chase
The Giant Bolster has got a pretty decent chance of shining in the Betfred Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon in England. The Grade 2 competition is scheduled to take place in the next week and some quality stallions have been attracted towards it.
It will be interesting to see who manages to take the top spot in the race, as the competition is going to be a tough one.
David Bridgwater, trainer of The Giant Bolster, has got high expectations from the class-1 contest and believes that his challenger will not make life easy for his opponents at Huntingdon.
However, he is still considering a few other options at the moment and said that his stallion might opt out of the Betfred Peterborough Chase.
According to Bridgwater, “We've got a few options really. I don't think he has much of a penalty, 5lb I think, so it would be interesting if we ran him. He's not slow by any means, he dotted up over this trip at Cheltenham last season.”
He went onto say, “The Gold Cup is his race, but it's how we get there. What I learned at Haydock is that you can't make a mistake in these races, and we are not quite up to scratch in the jumping department yet. That makes me think if he ran in the King
George, one mistake he'd be out of it, but at Cheltenham you have longer to recover.”
The Giant Bolster will not find things to be easy in the upcoming competition, as there are some fierce competitors up against him. He does have some useful experience of chase events, thus he should not feel the pressure.
He has appeared in a dozen of such races, winning three of them whereas finished as a runner up on a couple of times. In addition to that, he has also secured the third spot once, which clearly shows that he will not make life easy for his rivals.
Moreover, the weather in England has been wet over the past week and things are expected to be the same over the coming days. If this happens, the Simon Hunt’s owned gelding will fancy his chances more than others, as he likes running on a rain affected
ground.
