The Giver (kind of) trilogy?

Okay so I read The Giver by Lois Lowry and LOVED it. Than I found that there are 2 books similar to it that she had wrote, Gathering Blue and The Messenger so they are kind of like a trilogy, but Gathering Blue is the first one. Will it matter that I read The Giver first or can I just go ahead and read them in any order?

  1. No, it will not matter that you've read The Giver first. In fact, The Giver was published like 7 years before Gathering Blue, so Lois Lowry apparently intended for The Giver to be read first. From what I understand, Gathering Blue is a companion to The Giver and actually takes place a few years after the events of The Giver.

  2. like i read giver first and i def liked it better but id think it has anything to do with the second 1 and i didnt get how they really connected but i didnt read messenger and i heard that the 1st and 3rd connected.

  3. Any order....although I think Gathering Blue mentions something about The Giver. So you've already read The Giver, go ahead!! They are awesome books :)
