The Good and Bad Luck of Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby -NHL Special
Sidney Crosby is without a doubt the Lebron James of the National Hockey League (NHL), but much better. He might not have had it easy these past few seasons, but still deserves to be recognised as one of the best to have ever graced the sport and is definitely
someone who will be inducted into the future Hockey Hall of Fame.
While fans may consider him a Hall of Famer today, there is still much that Crosby needs to achieve before his final game comes around, and hopefully, that will not be due to health related worries.
The 25-year-old captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, one of the NHL’s premier franchises, is without a doubt, one of the best in the league right now just because of Crosby’s presence on the ice. He was not only the youngest captain in NHL history at the
time, a record that has now been broken by Colorado Avalanche’s Gabriel Landeskog, but was also the most inexperienced when it came to leading Pittsburgh to a Stanley Cup championship in 2009.
In 20 games and 27 points (6 goals, 21 assists) Crosby ended up losing to the Detroit Red Wings during the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals, but proved his determination by taking charge, as we can see with the 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 24 games to win
the following year. Crosby is a leader, no doubt in that, but he also knows how to set others up when the time comes instead of trying to steal the spotlight, like many other team captains do and everyone knows who they are.
Critics can never wait to get their hands on Crosby since they look at every action of his so closely, but are still unable to find any flaws with how the Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native handles his game.
Drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins back in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the Eastern Conference franchise could not have chosen anyone better, but even Crosby had to face troubles and hurdles along the path, with the biggest being his concussion
related worries. He may be healthy now, but concussions are something that always hinder a player after suffering from them and fans are a witness to how some players tried to break his spirits down, wanting him to call it quits.
Amazingly, Crosby still boasts a huge point to game differential as he has played in 434 games but holds 609 points (223 goals, 386 assists) to his name. Had e not missed over 90 games these past two seasons, no one knows how much that career total would
have gone up by.
Pittsburgh Penguins know that Sidney Crosby is yet to unlock his true potential and after a few hurdles, he is definitely set to make a major comeback and surprise the league. They did not lock him on to a 12-year, $104.4 million deal without a significant
reason and seeing what level of a player he really is, the Penguins should be gearing up to dominate the scene yet again.
Fans have their hopes and prayers set for Sidney Crosby, and hopefully, health will not be a concern for the superstar captain anymore in the future.
