The Great Khali defeats Ted DiBiase on Monday Night RAW: The Nexus deception works
The Rated-R Superstar, Edge, created another controversy when he said that Ted DiBiase should replace The Great Khali as a member of the RAW team which has been created to fight The Nexus at SummerSlam. Ted DiBiase also believed that The Great Khali does not have the speed and agility to remain on the team. It was decided that the Great Khali and Ted DiBiase will face each other to determine the best between the two. Meanwhile, two Nexus group members, Michael Tarver and David Otunga, spread the rumour that John Cena was trying to replace The Great Khali with Ted DiBiase. The Nexus group members spread the false rumour to attract The Great Khali on their side, and further said that DiBiase was attempting to buy his way onto Team WWE. (The Nexus knew that it is almost impossible to beat a person as big as The Great Khali.)
Punjabi music was played in the arena and The Great Khali entered with his translator. The crowd danced and cheered along the music of The Punjabi Playboy. The Great Khali was followed by “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, who entered the arena with his girlfriend, the former Divas champion, Maryse. Both wrestlers faced each other in the ring and prepared for the fight to determine a chance to stay in the RAW team.
The match started as Ted DiBiase started to deliver punches on the Giant’s abdomen. After a few moments, Ted DiBiase realized that he was wasting his energy as the Giant was not even feeling anything. The Great Khali stood in the ring and gave a chance to Ted DiBiase to try his luck. But then the earth started to shake as The Great Khali started his offence against the ‘Million Dollar Man’. The Great Khali cornered Ted DiBiase and started delivering kicks to DiBiase’s abdomen. Great Khali then raised his massive right hand and delivered a chop to Ted DiBiase’s chest. The chop was so powerful that even the commentators sitting outside the ring felt the impact. The Punjabi Giant was on a roll and was playing with Ted DiBiase like a toy.
But then Ted DiBiase did an unexpected move and kicked The Great Khali’s legs. The Great Khali fell on the ring floor and became vulnerable to further attacks from Ted DiBiase. Ted DiBiase knew that it is easier to attack Great Khali when he is on the ground. Ted DiBiase tried to lock The Great Khali’s head in his arms but the power of the Giant proved too much for him. The Great Khali stood on his feet, picked Ted DiBiase high in the air and slammed him hard on the ring floor. The Great Khali then knocked down Ted DiBiase by delivering a hard close line.
Then Great Khali trapped Ted DiBiase in the vicious Vice Grip. During the Vice Grip, the Great Khali applies pressure on the opponent’s head with both his hands. This grip is so strong that only a handful of wrestlers have ever managed to break this grip. Ted DiBiase struggled as he felt the pressure building on his head. Ted DiBiase gathered all his strength and tried to remove The Great Khali’s hands off his head but he failed.
Ted DiBiase then went into a state of unconsciousness in the ring. The referee realized that Ted DiBiase could sustain permanent injury if he stays in that position for too long. The referee asked the ring boy to ring the bell and awarded the match to The Great Khali. The Great Khali won the match and proved to the world why he deserves to be on the team which is selected to face Nexus at SummerSlam.
However, many wrestling pundits have doubts about the loyalties of The Great Khali, as The Nexus has been continuously trying to attract the Giant on their side (Two Nexus group members, Wade Barrett and Skip Sheffield, were perched ringside during the match and at one point, even grabbed DiBiase’s coveted Million Dollar Championship in an attempt to distract him). Only time will tell if The Great Khali makes the strong decision to save the RAW infrastructure at SummerSlam.
