  2. At least 2500 years, since it was written down by Hesiod in ~500 BCE.

    Probably predates the Trojan war (~1200 BCE).

    So I'd guess at least 3500 years old.

    Incidentally, I'd just liek to comment as an aside. That's what I love about the Greek Myths so much. :)

    We go around inventing fantasy mythology about ancient texts and fantastic lost kingdoms, when there's so much of it that is REAL. There are real ancient texts in forgotten languages, and real ancient Gods and lost empires. Their ruins are scattered all over the Mediteranean.  Who needs to invent Numenor, or the lost kingdom of Gondor, when we have Ancient Rome, with it's vast empire laid to waste all over Europe?!?
