The Greek postal system?

Question

i posted a letter about 2 weeks ago now, and it still hasnt got to where i need it to go. Is this normal when sending letters to Greece? anyone else had the same problem?

asimenia said in a previous post that when she sends parcels from Greece to England they arrive very quickly, but from England to Greece it takes long, so it is the UK post that delays. I don't know who delays, anyway, but it does happen sometimes to take a long time to arrive. 2 weeks is perhaps too much though, especially in the centre of Athens, in other suburbs sometimes the post is slower. But since it was 15 of August holiday and all services in Greece work slower, don't worry too much. Wait another week, if nothing happens by then your letter may have been lost somehow. Was it registered mail, that you can track down?

Delivery to Greece is reliable but slow,mine has taken 2 weeks on average.

they are probably using it as a coffee cup coaster! No really it takes ages to get things sent out here! it will arrive one day!

A friend of mine sent me a card from The UK and it first went o New zealand then to greece. It was late but i got it!

I have been snail mailing for more than 12 years,with Japan,Mexico,Sweden,Italy.

Every letter arrived.

In holidays,it was delayed (Xmas mostly) but never have a problem.

No, for me it usually only takes a week.  I think your mail is lost.

i am getting mails from US , takes 7 working days

From Uk  takes around 4-5 working days

From Aus takes around 10 working days

Hi Don't worry it will get there the main holidays for greece and Cyprus are in August and the 15th of August was a major bank Holiday so instead of it taking 7-10 days expect up to 15 but it will get there.

Strange, I used to send letters in Greece as well as receive them and usually it took about 3 to 4 days. Whether it's because of the summer vacations I don't know but it seems to be the most likely cause. Then again letters get lost anyway. Best of luck with it.

I live in Australia and I use to write letters to my cousin in Greece and vice vera and it always took around 2 - 3 weeks to arrive weather the letter was going from Aust to Greece or from Greece to Aust. We sent many letters to each other all the time and none of them got lost. Just give it another week or so.
