... Call of Duty: Black Ops, if a poll of 13,000 people who voted for a number of games is to believed. Shocker; beats out Dead Space, Half Life 2 and Halo Reach.
Guinness, the organisation we all know as the one that releases a book of world records on an annual basis, has announced that the best ending to any game in history is that of Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.
The news may take some time to sink in, so it is best that the reader takes a few moments to gather his or her thoughts, before reading the rest of this story, and no, this is not a joke.
Guinness asked 13,000 people to participate in a poll where a number of titles were listed and they had to vote for which article they thought had the best ending.
Just to give readers an idea of what the results were like, Resident Evil 4 finished in 50th place and Half-Life: Episode Two finished in 43rd spot.
InFamous’s twist filled ending finished 39th while Gears of War 2 could only get enough votes for a 36th place finish. As for BioShock, well it had to settle for 37th place.
The Metal Gear Solid series was also in the charts with Snake Eater finishing 32nd and the original MGS title settling in at 27th, just one spot behind Ezio Auditore’s first entry in the Assassin’s Creed universe.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ ending earned enough votes to finish 21st while Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood finished 16th.
Heavy Rain kicked off the top ten as Metal Gear Solid 4 finished eight, one place behind Portal.
Red Dead Redemption and God of War occupied the sixth and fifth spots respectively and Halo: Reach could only manage a runner’s up finish.
At number one, it was Call of Duty: Black Ops and one has to wonder why the likes of Dead Space, Batman: Arkham City and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations are not even in the top 50 places.
The games could easily be in the top 20 if not higher. In order to find that out one would have to ask the 13,000 people who voted and what they were thinking.
Seriously, what were they thinking?!
