The Hawkeyes wins the The Royal Oaks Intercollegiate 2010

The Royal Oaks Intercollegiate 2010 was held in Dallas from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November and crowned team IOWA as the winner. The second place was achieved by team Texas A&M while the third place was grabbed by the Arkansas
men’s golf team.
The winning squad, also known as the Hawkeyes, stands at number 17 in team ranking and played a remarkable minus 17 to grab first place at the leader board. The team won the event with a five shot lead after scoring 551 in total.
The winning team carded two scores of 276 and 275 but could not play the third round since it was cancelled. The third and final round of the event was first delayed and then cancelled due to heavy rains at 1 p.m. (CT) and its
score was thus ignored while calculating the total score.
The 36-hole game thus played handed team IOWA their fourth win of the season. The runner up team, Texas A&M, stands at number 12 in team rankings and carded a minus 12 to lead the third place team with a 556. Team Arkansas achieved
the third position after scoring a 564 with a minus 4 and holds position number ten at the team rankings.
According to the head coach Mark Hankins, the team performed brilliantly regardless the weather conditions. He said that it had been a lucky tournament since the team had achieved good scores before the third round was cancelled.
The IOWA team had undoubtedly played a consistent game that had led them towards the top of the leader boards.
The Hawkeyes were led by Vince India who played an amazing 10 under at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. The senior golfer carded a total of 132 which included the player collecting 11 birdies and a good pair of 66s.
“I played a relaxed game” India said.
According to the senior, Monday’s conditions enabled him to play a solid game. He said that he followed a hole-by-hole approach and was hence able to score consistently in the two rounds.
The golfer further added that they were least bothered about the weather and were ready to play even if the course presented poor conditions. India said that his team was well prepared and knew how to play in stormy conditions
due to their similar practice sessions.
Team IOWA is currently taking a break but according to their senior, the team is already anxious to play again in spring.
The runner up team carded scores of 279 and a 277 while team Arkansas collected scores of 285 and 279to attain third position.
