The High Man to go high in Grants Whisky Handicap
In the £4,528 race of the Grants Whisky Handicap, the Ed Walker trained chestnut gelding, The High Man, will run with two objectives including completion of his hat-trick and accumulation of immense confidence for his future ventures. Thus, it is highly
expected that the four-year-old young and energetic horse will be able to make a big impact convincingly in the Class 4 contest that is scheduled to take place at Newmarket racecourse on Friday, August 24.
Facing eight rivals on the good to firm track of 1 mile and 4 furlongs will be challenging for the maverick horse as he nicely faced such sort of race conditions in his last start on July 26.
Throughout the last year, the son of Medicean out of Excellent did not ran any race, but underwent some useful training sessions that proved to be greatly helpful for him as he staged a successful and stunning comeback in May 2012.
The last two months were the peak time of the gelding’s career. On June 16, he marvellously broke his maiden with the title of the Pattenmakers Handicap, held at Lingfield.
Deriving a lot of confidence from that success, the Cheveley Park Stud Ltd bred horse stepped forward to finish first in the Tyregiant.com Handicap that took place at Doncaster.
Interesting to note is the fact that he had been the hot-favourite candidate for each of these two races, and today again, he poses to be the best-priced runner. Thus, the stage is set for The High Man to complete his maiden hat-trick.
As the enthusiastic gelding is going to run under a new jockey, Hayley Turner, some of the sport experts fear that this experiment may prove to be somewhat dangerous for his form. But it is expected that the talented runner will cover this up with his sterling
skills.
From the opposition camp, Maria’s Choice is the only contestant who can give a tough time to The High Man. The Sir Michael Stoute trained bay colt nicely broke his maiden by winning the Happy 60th Birthday Paul Freeman Median Auction Maiden Stakes on July
10.
Thus, a thrilling action is expected at Newmarket.
