The Hinsdale South boys volleyball team defeats York in a clean sweep in Thursday
Competitive volleyball is not restricted at the university level anymore bit high school teams also make for a thrilling match of the game. The sport has been inculcated in various schools that have adapted vigorous training programs. These programs have
helped young boys and girls upgrade their performance and have given them a chance to make develop the potential that they posses.
Starting at a young age, the upcoming generation of professional volleyball player is going to be even more talented than the current one.
One such young team of athletes that has promise is the Hinsdale South boys volleyball team. Despite the fact that they have had a season which has seen quite a few bumps on the road, the Hornets have been able to pull off spectacular performances as well.
Recently, the Hornets were in a match against York. The contest that took place between the two teams was part of the West Suburban Conference match. Despite the fact that the Hornets found themselves in a tight spot early on in the game, they were able
to step up and win the entire deal. The win was accomplished after playing against raised odds of being in the opponent’s home ground.
By the time that the Hornets were done and had started celebrating their hard earned victory while the York team was heading out of the court in a despondent state, the scoreboard displayed the following final set scores that signalled a Hornet win: 25-23
and 25-22.
The start of the first set of the match saw both the teams go in for the kill. For most part of the game, both the Hornets as well as the York team were almost neck-to-neck. The spectators were witness to a well played game of volleyball in the opening set
of the game. However, as the match reached its final stages, the Hornets were able to charge ahead. Despite the fact that York tried hard to get the lead at this point, the Hornets bagged the initial set of the game at 25-23.
It was in the second set that the Hornets found themselves in a tight spot. York was able to take the lead at 9-1 and kept extending it. It took a long time for the Hornets to get back in the game and finally take it at 25-22.
Hinsdale South coach Billson Rasavongxay referring to the 1-9 deficit that the Hornets found themselves in the second set of the match made the following comments, “I know we’re confident enough to fight back. It’s just too bad that we have to keep putting
ourselves in that situation. They showed it numerous times through the season that they could do it. Once we start eliminating some of those mistakes, we’ll be a better team.”
