Question:

The Hottest Year In History?

I am reading a book, and it was copyrighted in 1992. It is all about geography. Since it was written about 15 years ago, a lot has changed. There was a chapter on Global Warming and stuff, and it said that the hottest decade since the 1880's were the 1980's, and the hottest year was 1990. In 1991, a volcano erupted, and produced a kind of cloud cover that cooled the earth for a year or so.

Basically my question is, when was the hottest year in history? Or is it still 1990?

Please and thank you! :]
