They have always been here by this time of the year. Zone maps show us in full migration but no birds, yet.

  1. Which is odd, Since Im in Louisiana and have them. They hover over my head alot... But here are some questions for you.

***Have you put out feeders or are you growing humming bird vines or flowers to attarct them? Remeber they like sugar solutions of 1 part sugar to 3 pparts water. ""Hummingbirds feed on the nectar of plants and are important pollinators.they reject flower types that produce nectar which is less than 12% sugar and prefer those whose sugar content is around 25%."

****Have your county sprayed recently for insects? "somehummingbirds meet their needs for protein, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, etc. by preying on insects and spiders, especially when feeding young."

    *****Are there cats around ?

*****If you have feeders, are they to close to where people walk? Since some hummers dontlike to much attention.

*** Has there been construction in the area, clear cutting etc..? If so the smoke could have driven off the humming birds.

Thus to sum it up...All I can suggest is to proved them with the right food , they will come. Be patient and remeber to put the feeder away from high traffic areas and try not to burn waste near known nesting trees since this drives them away .

  2. It takes awhile.  Make sure you have feeders set up for them.
