The Illegal downloading debate?

I have seen on the television recently about filesharing and the fact that most or the majority of peoples music files on MP3 players have been downloaded free of charge, can anyone tell me whether they feel that the internet service providers will cut all of the people sharing stuff off or do you think this will be so ineffective as they will have to cut off a large proportion of their clients ( I have a young daughter who in the past has downloaded music for free ) what are your thoughts?.

  1. Well the fact is that almost everyone on the internet have probably done something like that already. If the internet providers or anyone were to take action then they would have to probably put everyone in jail. LOL! So they do know that you are doing these stuff but there isn't much they can do about this. But I am pretty sure they take action on the source that you are getting it from but not on the people that downloads it. Because that would be way to many ppl to be taking action on. That would just be a pain in the *** for them.

  2. no no matte what the service providers do hackers will still find ways around it file sharing will be around for a very long time and thats fact

  3. My internet service is provided by BT, a company so monumentally greedy that I can't imagine them cutting anybody off for any reason at all.

  4. i have problem with this.If i am paying 100 to 300 for windows edition why it is not mine why can I only use it for 2 more copies?

I feel if I pay that much for it I should be able to use it for all computers in the home etc.

  5. It would be hard for internet service providers to crack down on file sharing websites. Considering the minute was is shutdown, another one springs up.

I'm sure, you, as a parent with a young child that you are concerned that she will not get in trouble for downloading music illegally. Some ISP's can track what websites you are downloading content from. Such as Comcast. They will notify you by e-mail anytime that they catch you doing it.

Although personally I've never seen them take legal action against me. I do not personally rip files myself onto the internet and pirate them. I share the content with other users.

Being a young women who is always online, I don't really see anything wrong with file sharing. It can't deter that much money from the artist/production company/movie distributors than is being lead on.

People still buy DVD's and CD's and buy songs online from iTunes or other reputable media websites.

  6. I do that all the time. The owners of the contents downloaded and the service providers are mad if they think they can stop file sharing.Too many people do it and it will be really hard to put a stop on it.Just because we share and we don't spend money on games, cds and films because of sharing, fact which they believe lowers the economy, they want to stop all of this. What happened to the "share between each other" belief.????

  7. Because the internet has become so huge (almost another world), trying to control traffic on it wuold be like trying to control every single person to person transaction in the world.

It would be comparable to controlling the Black Market in the physical world. It's just not going to happen.

As long as there are people out there who feel that music should be free for the masses, there will be ones who make ways available to download and share them.

That's just the way it is.

  8. they will not cut ppl off coz der aint one houselhold dat dnt do it!!!

hw they gna make money without customers???

its jus a threat n a way to let the music company know their doing sumthing...unless the music industry is willing to pay for the customers they have to cut off der aint no chance its eva gna hapen

  9. That would be like severing your own arm. ISPs need freeloaders to make subscriptions.
