Question:

The Inconvinient Truth... a hoax?

My grandfather told me some scientists in the USA claimed that the information given out in the documentary by Al Gore: The Inconvinient Truth was an inconvinient farce. I don't believe this though, the truth is, I think the Americans who own the big companies that emit fumes and toxins that destroy our world are only claiming it's false so people wouldn't believe Al Gore and would continue to earn money (and destroy the planet). These scientists claim that global warming is a hoax. But even if the charts and other information shown in the documentary really ARE false, don't you think it's our job to protect the Earth? How can people call Al Gore a farce if he's only trying to save the planet? And you have to admit, even if NASA or any other highly acclaimed scientists say that the rates shown in this documentary turn out to be false, there still IS pollution and destruction in the world. My question is, do you think it's a hoax or the real thing? AND shouldn't we try to stop it?

  1. He did miss state some things but in general if there were even the slightest possibility of it being true wouldn't now be the time to act?Glaciers are receding, ice shelves are breaking off in unprecedented numbers-sure looks like there might be something to it.Why risk it just so some Plutocrat can buy a new toy?P.S.I think its' real.I personally think we need safe Nuke plants and millions of plug in cars, sadly because of the war we might not be able to afford this anymore. If Yellowstone ever blows it'll make what we've all done insignificant-its' over due for an erruption, but barring that it only makes sense to take precautionary measures.

  2. It's not a hoax, it's just a very stilted documentary.  It goes through the evidence for global warning and cherry-picks only the most compelling anectdotes.  It goes through the predictions about global warming and presents only the most dire.

It's like the way the Bush Administration picked and chose intelligence reports to make a case for invading Iraq.  Not a lie, just a very selective presentation of questionable 'facts.'

  3. Yes. Humankind is too minuscule to effect the climate - unless we decided to hammer each other with nukes. We are but a pimple on Mother Natures A** when it comes to how much we can affect the environment.

  4. The Inconvenient Truth IS NOT a hoax, it is a fact  (at least right now)!!!!! Climate scientist not too long ago were worrying about global cooling!!! It is a fact that increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide will trap more infrared radiation (heat) leading to warming. It is also true that plant use carbon dioxide to grow. It is also true that the amount of energy put out by the sun varies sometimes very noticeably resulting in an unseasonable warm day. All the factors mention above vary on a continuous basis, as well as other factors such as fuel efficiency, industrial output, and the increase in non-greenhouse gas producing energy such as windmills producing electric power.

  5. The entire movie was skewed. It was fiction. Everyone wants to believe we are SO much more important than we really are.Our time on this planet can be compared to a blink of our eyes and we choose to follow blindly with out questioning Al's real motive. He still needs his spotlight and that's all his got now. Thank to Al for inventing the internet you can  do your research and find your truth.

  6. I think man-made global warming is a hoax.

Why didn't Al Gore make this such a high priority when he was in the Clinton Administration?

  7. Its fake. Yes we should take care of the Earth. But we should not be taxed or have to buy "carbon credits" or whatever.

Until Gore stops flying around in a jet and driving his SUV and living in a house that has a bigger electric bill than 10 average American homes then he should shut up. He can't walk the walk so why lecture others on it?

  8. I used to believe all this stuff until I learned about a South Pacific volcano that literally blew up in the 1830's.  The explosion was so big and threw so much junk into the atmosphere that the world cooled off for about five years.  And that was just *one* volcano.  Imagine the catastrophe if two volcanoes had let it loose!  (the seasons were messed up for the first year.  crops could not survive the severe frosts throughout the summer!)  I dread to think of such a calamity occuring today--we don't have enough food stored away to feed us all.
