The Intercontinental Champion, Cody Rhodes defeats John Morrison at h**l in a Cell – WWE Update
The Intercontinental Champion, Cody Rhodes defended his Intercontinental title by defeating The Shaman of s**y, John Morrison during WWE’s pay-per-view event, h**l in a Cell on October 2 at New Orleans Centre in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Intercontinental Champion appeared in the ring after the World Championship Steel Cage fight between Randy Orton and Mark Henry. Cody introduced the new Intercontinental title that was covered with a paper bag. Cody’s assistant unveiled the new Classic
White Intercontinental Title. Cody stated that the biggest superstars of WWE like Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Steve Austin and Ricky Steamboat held that title and he would also wear it in the respect of those superstars. Cody commented that he will wear that
title with more dignity than any of those superstars. The Intercontinental Champion also challenged that he will defend his title anytime and anywhere and to anyone.
The Vice President of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis interrupted the Champion and introduced himself. He apologised to The Intercontinental Champion for interrupting and said that Triple H had ordered him to make a fight against Cody. John announced
the fight against The Shaman of s**y, Morrison that started at the same time. Morrison headed towards the ring among the huge pop of the WWE Universe.
The fight started and Morrison got momentum first. He rolled up Cody but earned a two count only. Morrison took down Cody once again and attempted the Headlock on the Intercontinental Champion. Cody countered and tried to hit the dropkick that was countered
by Morrison as well. During the match, both pinned each other several times but only got a near fall.
Morrison tried his best to hit his finishing move, Starship Pain but Cody escaped. He also tried to hit another dangerous move, Running Kick but missed that as well. At the end, while Morrison attempted to hit the Springboard kick, Cody escaped and rolled
him for the pin. It was a hard fought battle as the Intercontinental Champion got three counts and successfully retained the Intercontinental Championship.
