The Italians ready for the home challenge at the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi
Edoardo Molinari and Francesco Molinari are set to make their appearances at this week’s BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi, at the Royal Park I Roveri.
Despite making a start at their national tournament, the brothers have their own reasons to be pleased with. For Francesco, it will be his last event before he will represent the European Team in the Ryder Cup this year.
On the other hand, Edoardo is relishing the opportunity to play the second straight week after spending almost three months off the golfing scene, because of a wrist injury.
Francesco is currently enjoying a great form on the European Tour, as he won the Reale Seguros Open de España early in the season. Moreover, he also recorded seven other top-10 finishes so far this year.
He now ranks fourth in The Race to Dubai and is among the best players in the European Ryder Cup team.
Costantino Rocca and Matteo Manassero are the other two Italian players who will represent their country in the tournament.
Manassero finished tied eighth last year in the same event and plans to improve his stats in front of the home fans this week.
While talking to the European Tour’s official website, he stated that the local fans always regard the Italian Open as one of the biggest events on their home soil.
Therefore, it is the foremost duty of the local players to cheer their followers with an excellent display of the game on the course.
“It is great fun for the crowd and great fun for us. I’ve played in three now and I really want to do well in it,” said the youngest winner on the European Tour. “I feel a little bit of added pressure but the support also really helps you. The course is
one of the best in Italy”.
“It is going to be a special week for us all. Everybody is looking forward to seeing Edoardo back and we will all be welcoming him again. Francesco has had an amazing year and he wants to do well before The Ryder Cup,” he added.
