The John Queally trained Elyaadi looking to dominate the Ascot Stakes on 19th June, 2012
Elyaadi will try to take it up a notch, and try to land a victory for her connections in the Ascot Stakes on 19th June, 2012.
Trainer John Queally is pleased with her form and stated to the press that:
"She's going to run on Tuesday and Fran Berry will ride. She just seems to find one too good there, but she's in good form and hopefully she'll run another good race."
The daughter of Singspiel, out of mare Abyaan, competed in the Ascot Stakes on 15th June, 2010, but finished as a runner-up to David Pipe trained, Junior, by a considerable margin of five lengths.
This time the bay mare is returning to the track with more determination. She has all the elements working in her favour including the experience and the familiarity of the track.
Micheal D. Ryan owned mare returned to the track on 3rd June, 2012, after a lay-off of six months to compete in the Bryan MacMahon (QR) Race at Listowel, and finished third under rider, Ms. K. Walsh.
Veiled, trained by Nicky Henderson for owners, Pump & Plant Services Ltd, will also run again to defend her title.
On 14th June, 2011, the daughter of Sadler´s Wells, out of mare Evasive Quality, was paired with jockey, Eddie Ahern, who guided her to a 2 ¾ lengths victory over, Ermyn Lodge.
The six-year-old bay mare faltered in the Grade 3 Silver Cross Handicap Hurdle at Aintree on 12th April, 2012, where she finished in 13th pace in a line-up of twenty-one runners.
Veiled might tone up for this event, and her latent winning form might resurface.
The Group 2 Coventry Stakes is also on the same card, and it is creating a frenzy of its own so far. The leading contender in the Coventry is, Sir Prancealot.
Trained by Richard Hannon, the two-year-old bay colt has demonstrated exquisite potential in his first two starts, as he secured two victories and is on his way to score the third to post a well-deserved hat-trick.
