The Kite Runner: what is it about the author's style that causes you to like/dislike the story?

  1. I agree with the poster above me, it's so poetic.  But what I found a little strange is some dialogs that contain both the native and translation words.  I mean, we don't naturally talk like that, do we?

    For example "bas!-enough!" etc.

    I have read both his novels The Kite Runner and A thousand Splendid Suns  both are almost the same, sad novels.  The last one even tore my heart lol.  And I did cry reading them all.

    But, I can't deny they're real page-turners (even though I'm not  fan of sad stories).


  2. Hm.... maybe the honesty it was told through. Maybe also the lack of poetic descriptions?

  3. I loved it. It was open and honest, well written and adult, with lots of symbolism and inner meanings. Plus, I read it as a mandatory book for school, so we HAD to do all that symbolism/looking deeper c**p. But it's completely worth it, it's AMAZING!
