The Laodicean with just the right credentials for the Queens Royal Lancers Novices’ Handicap Chase at Leicester
The Class 4 Queens Royal Lancers Novices’ Handicap Chase which is open for participation by five-year and older thoroughbreds is to be staged at Leicester over two miles. The purse for the race amounts to £3, 249 and will be presented to the winner among the lineup of five runners.
One of the most credible entries on the lineup is The Laodicean, Midnight Legend’s six-year-old bay gelding out of mare Sea Pearl. His first victory of the new season was at Leicester.
He has raced thrice during the season and has stationed third and fifth besides one victory.
The Laodicean won the Daniel Lambert Handicap Chase on 28th February at Leicester over two miles and four and a half furlong. The winner had Andrew Thornton riding and the pair enjoyed a 1 ½ lengths’ lead on the track of five.
The 10/11 favourite runner up of the race was Cesium while settling third behind the winner was Mac Halen.
The Laodicean’s first two attempts during the new season were failures. He came third in the Holtye Handicap Chase on 5th January at Lingfield over two miles. The race was won by Rosoff while The Laodicean finished third behind the 15/8 favourite runner up of the race, Mallusk.
On 31st January, The Laodicean was fifth in the Bet Totepool Text Tote To 89660 Handicap Chase at Folkestone over two miles. The race was won by Amaury De Lusignan while finishing the closest to the winner was the 5/2 favourite runner up of the race was Surf And Turf.
Filling up the third slot was Sawago.
Eventually, The Laodicean captured a victory through the third outing of the season.
Share Option, Polish Precedent’s ten-year-old bay gelding out of mare Quota, is another one among the lineup who broke into the new season by striking a victory at Leicester itself.
On 10th January, Share Option won the Groby Novices’ Handicap Chase at Leicester over two miles. The runner up of the race was Ajzal while reserving the third place was Call It On.
Which of the two geldings will benefit the most out of their winning experience on the same race course will become news soon. The Laodicean will be making his fourth outing of the season while Share Option will be moving on with his third outing.
