The Last Light to shock Elderberry Torus in Owners Bonus Series Final at Monmore
Monmore is due to stage plenty of exciting events on Monday, but the focus will be entirely on Owners Bonus Series Final. It will be held over a distance of 480 metres, and six speedy hounds have made it to the final line-up.
Elderberry Torus is carrying the highest starting price. He deserves it following an excellent show last time. The son of Crash turned around fairly quickly after the last race, and looks to have solid claims here.
After facing an embarrassing loss here on January 14th, P. Cowdrill’s trainee quickly got his act together, taking the first prize comfortably by three and a half lengths last time. After showing great early pace, he went wide and retained his
advantage all the way through.
It was surely a strong effort, and we cannot blame the bookies for giving him the best odds. But no one should ignore the box he is due to start from. The December-10 hound is standing in the fourth box, which usually does not guarantee a clear passage.
The Last Light, on the other hand, is enjoying slightly better draw. The white and black dog is a proven winner, and can offer more. So, the punters must not overlook his chances in today’s battle.
After ending up at bottom of the chart, the P. Curtin-trained raised his game, and took an outstanding triumph last time around. He was quickly away after leaving the fourth box.
He kept the whole crew under tremendous pressure, and eventually bagged the top prize by half a length. He is in equally good momentum, if not better. So, it looks a thrilling contest between him and Elderberry Torus. Since the son of Droopys Vieri is enjoying
slightly better draw, and should be preferred.
Other hounds in the pack are: Norman Victory, Cuddly Kate, Farloe Rihanna, and Organdy. The finale is due to get started at 15:48 GMT. The cash prize for the winner is 500 pounds.
Cuddly Kate is clearly shaken after a rough ride recently. Organdy’s hopes will be high only in case of a trouble-free passage. Farloe Rihanna could come up a fraction short in this company. Norman Victory is consistent, and cannot be written off on energy
levels.
