The Legg Mason Tennis Classic 2010: Sam Querrey out of the tournament, Tipsarevic wins the second round match
The American professional tennis ace, Sam Querrey committed a total of two double faults at important points and Janko Tipsarevic; his opponent read the situation well to knock down the seeded sixth player in a total of two sets on Wednesday in Washington.
Tipsarevic won the second round match of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic tournament with a final match score of 7-6 (3), 6-3.
After a fault to open the tiebreaker of the set number one, the American player, Sam Querrey attempted for a second serve ace with a thundering serve that skipped, and he never came back. Sam once again double faulted on break point to provide Tipsarevic a lead of 5-3 in the set number two of the match. Tipsarevic on the other hand also did well as he didn't give Sam any opportunity to come back in the game, serving a total of three straight aces in the following game to grab the victory.
"I didn’t play up to the mark throughout the match”, Sam said. "He was pushing me to go for a number of shots. I was exhausted, therefore I was attempting to end points a bit earlier by going for few bigger hits”, he added.
In another match, David Nalbandian kept on with his winning momentum since making a comeback after a period of three months. He stayed away from the game due to his hamstring injury. The player from Argentina knocked down the seventh seeded Stanislas Wawrinka in a total of two sets to reach the round number three of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic championship. The final match score was 6-1, 6-3.
A total of five seeded contenders were kicked out of the tournament on Wednesday namely the ninth seeded Ernests Gulbis who retired in the match as a result of extreme heat while playing against Illya Marchenko when the match score was 6-1, 1-0. The temperature in Washington was above 90 degrees when the match started. On the other hand, Marco Chiudinelli knocked down the tenth seeded player Radek Stepanek in a total of two sets. Moreover, Alejandro Falla also cruised into the round number three of the competition after the eleventh seeded Hewitt also retired as a result of his right calf injury. Falla was on top with 7-5, 3-2 when he drew out.
Marcos Baghdatis, who is seeded eight for the championship also won the match after thrashing out Horacio Zeballos with a final match score of 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5). Andrey Golubev, on the other hand, also did well to knock down Kristof Vliegen 6-2, 7-6 (7).
As far as Querrey is concerned, he couldn’t handle the fatigue along with the heat on Wednesday. It was his very first clash of the championship after his Loss Angeles victory on Sunday.
Tipsarevic and Sam faced each other in yesterday’s match once again in less than a week span. Sam got the better of him in their previous clash which was the semi final match at Los Angeles.
However, as far as this match is concerned, Tipsarevic had no issues at all particularly with his service game that was a problem in their previous clash. The Serbian tennis ace finished off the match with a total of sixteen aces.
"I want to be one of the greatest servers in the game of tennis as my height favours it as well”, Tipsarevic said. "However, today was a bit more than anticipated."
The American, Sam Querrey is the highest seeded player so far who failed to past the round number two of the Legg Mason tennis Classic in the city of Washington.
