The Lemonpie likely to prevail in the Triflex Handicap Hurdle
The Lemonpie seems to have the best chances of winning the Triflex Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow in England on Thursday, March 22, 2012. The triumphant runner will be awarded with a cash prize of £1,689.
A total of 11 entries have been conformed for the race, which will start at 2:40 GMT, and their names are: Lonesome Boatman, Lady Bridget, The Lemonpie, Lightening Fire, My Viking Bay, Spinning Waters, Chasing Aces, Anyauldiron, Clyffe Top, Magical Man and
Strand Line.
The going will be good to soft in the 2 mile 110 yard race, which will entertain the spectators at Chepstow today.
The Lemonpie has been doing a decent job recently, thus the bookmakers feel he will be able to win the race. However, he does not have a very good record in races over hurdles, which will discourage the bettors from risking money on him.
The seven-year-old gelding has taken part in seven hurdles until now, winning none of them. The best he could manage was a third place finish on a couple of occasions. His most recent performance was a good one, but he will need to produce something special
in order to fight for victory today.
One of the main reasons why Brendan Powell’s trainee managed to get the favour from bookmakers is his jockey, A. P. McCoy, who is one of the best in the business. The legendary rider needs no introduction at all, as his stats speak for him. He has won 538
races over hurdles and has a fabulous strike rate, thus there is every chance for him to finish on top at Chepstow today.
Other than the race favourite runner, Lady Bridget also seems to be in good rhythm at the moment. She has been doing really well in recent times, thus she will be full of confidence right now.
The four-year-old filly has taken part in six hurdles until now, winning one of them. She has also secured a couple of runner up positions, which shows that she is quite capable of fighting for the top spots.
Mark Gillard’s trainee will be partnered by Tommy Phelan, who has won just 12 hurdles in his career until now.
Lonesome Boatman, Lightening Fire and My Viking Bay might also manage to cause a few problems for the race favourites, but they will have to be at their absolute best in order to do so.
