The Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf: Betting Odds
Next up on the Champions Tour agenda is the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament, which has officially kick-started from the 18th of April. The event is going to be more of a relaxing break for the players as they shake up the format and
go from the individually focused stroke play to the “two man better ball stroke play”.
The tournament which is commonly known as the “tournament that launched the Champions Tour” is all set to be a fun change in the schedules of players aged fifty and above. Only one out of the three divisions, i.e. Legends Division, is an official money and
victory event. The purse for the 2011 edition of the Legends division is a whopping $ 2,700,000 and it will officially be starting off on the 22nd of April.
Speculations have been running rampant about who will win this year’s edition and so far the defending champions, Mark O’Meara and Nick Price, seem to be leading the charge. Not only is this teaming the top favourite of the public, but the stats that they
have been posting so far on the tour are very impressive indeed.
The defending champions seem to be on a roll this year and have consistently been displaying a good playing form throughout the tour. Price already has the Toshiba Classic title and a total of 4 T-10 finishes to his credit and those too all in a row. O’Meara
for his part has also not been performing shabbily at all. He started his year with 4 T-10’s and his worst performance all season has been a T-14.
Another popular pairing seems to be that of Tom Lehman and Corey Pavin. Lehman is the top player on the tour at the moment and already has 2 wins, out of the 5 events he has played, tucked safely under his belt. He has also won the 2009 title while having
been teamed up with Bernhard Langer, while in 2010 he placed fourth at the event.
Pavin on the other hand, does not seem to be on the top of his game this season and has managed just one T-10 finish out of the four events played. Also, his track record at the event does not say much for his chances either as during last year’s edition
he finished 17th while being teamed up with Michael Allen. But who knows being paired with the top player of the tour may prove to be exactly what he needs to up his game.
Our own personal favourite for the title win has to be the John Cook and Joey Sindelar pairing. This will mark the fourth appearance of the duo as a team during the event and their track record has been quite good up till now with T-4 finishes in the last
three editions of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament. Cook also won the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am that was being played last week while Sindelar tied for the 9th spot.
Both these players are in excellent playing form and seem to be determined to walk away with the $230,000 of the total purse that has been set aside for the winning team.
