The Liquidator victorious in Betdaq The Peoples Exchange Champion INH Flat Race
The Liquidator took his opponents by surprise in Betdaq The Peoples Exchange Champion INH Flat Race (Grade 1) at Punchestown in Ireland on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was not rated as the favourite to succeed, but still performed brilliantly and did not
take any pressure at all.
He was given a general starting price of 4 to 1, which was not bad and showed that the bookies had some sort of confidence in his abilities. However, the punters did not risk the maximum number of bets on him, as they favoured some of the other stronger
challengers in the race.
Despite that, The Liquidator did not take any pressure at all and made his team proud with a stunning run. He started off well and did not allow the other runners to get away at the start. The conditions were tough, as the ground had been affected due to
rain.
This did not bother the five-year-old gelding and he continued making up places as the race progressed. Once he got into the lead, he started pressing even harder. His stamina was put to a stern test, but he still managed to hold on in the end, winning by
almost three lengths.
Due to this performance, his trainer David Pipe was extremely happy and predicted that things will get even better with the passage of time.
The veteran trainer stated, “There's not a lot of the horse but he's very tough and gutsy and a real trier. It probably helped with the favourite coming out and our horse has been on the go for a long time. He proved when second at Cheltenham in November
that he's a decent horse and he has gone on from then. He'll be a smashing hurdler next year.”
He went onto praise the jockey by saying, “Jane came well-recommended to us and she gave the horse a fantastic ride and it's lovely to win in Ireland.”
Overall, The Liquidator has participated in a total of five events, winning two of them whereas finished as a runner up on the same number of times. If he continues performing in this fashion, he will definitely be up there with the best very soon.
