The Long awaited Dani Pedrosa’s Return Preparations
The final stage recovery for the Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is now starting with the first stage of the MotoGP season just around the corner. The treatment continues apace with the Spaniard on course to return to action by January 2011.
Dani Pedrosa is expected to resume training in 2011 following a complete recovery from his collar bone, which was broken in two places when the throttle on his Repsol Honda RC212V got stuck open during the practice session at Motegi late October for his
Japanese Grand Prix.
Pedrosa has a tremendous career standing and even missing three of the last five races due to the accident. He went on to miss the race where he had the accident and the subsequent in Sepang, Malaysia. He attempted to compete at the Phillip Island but due
to the after-effect pain from the accident, it became nearly impossible. However, brilliant as he be, he still managed to stick to the podium by the end of season 2010 behind fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo even when he was unable to finish in the top five for
the final two races.
Pedrosa’s accident gave away his title for 2010 and leaving him second overall and the specialists had told him to rest the shoulder. Still the long recovery would have given him ample amount of strength to return to his form and still a month left to get
back into shape for the first MotoGP test in Sepang, Malaysia. Pedrosa got his first surgery the same weekend at Dexeus University Institute Hospital in Barcelona, but for the serious bruising and swelling in the shoulder, there were rumours that Pedrosa might
have to undergo another surgery, but luckily for his fan-following, he has been cleared for his January return.
His tests after the surgery consisted of CAT scans and MRI scans, electromyography and Eco-Doppler tests. After numerous testing, he started rehabilitation returning to the physical training due January 2011.
“I’ve been suffering a lot since Japan and I knew something was wrong with my arm because after the surgery I didn’t get better, this lack of strength was very strange and annoying!”, the frustration of the superstar was quite visible in his words.
"Now everything is clear and it’s good to know that the collarbone is OK and I don’t need any more surgery that would take a long time to heal.”
The MotoGP world champion runner-up, Dani Pedrosa was quite boosted by the news that he’s going to return to the tracks without any further due surgery.
January seems promising for the Repsol Honda team, as Pedrosa shall be resuming his practice as told by the surgeons. After his accident, Pedrosa had been suffering with numbness and a lack of strength after returning for the last two races in the season
2010.
Dani Pedrosa took the final days off to take part in two pre-Christmas charity events in his country. The first one was a TV marathon on the 19th December when he was among other stars for the fund raiser to the individuals who suffered spinal
cord or brain injuries. The marathon is held annually by the Catalunya’s official TV station.
Then again on the 21st December, Pedrosa will be promoting the children’s book, “Two mechanical elves for Dani Pedrosa”. The book is a biography which tells the story of his beginnings in the world of motorcycling.
The complete fitness training session will escort him to a more competitive race training of the 2011 MotoGP season in Sepang, Malaysia on Feb. 1-3 and he certainly is well-wished for that.
