The Lumberjacks getting ready for action – Volleyball News
The Alpena Community College Volleyball Team (Lumberjacks) is a prominent team in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA). They have put together a great record in recent years and aim to defend their position in the running season. John
Dietlin and Sarah Parsons, the two geniuses in the form of co-head coaches, have put body, mind, and soul in preparing the young team. Although the team has not been able to create a huge splash in the season opening invitational matches, the current group
of players is ready to regain their lost pride.
Team Coach, John Dietlin, shared his views and made it quite clear that they will achieve improved results this year. He stated: "We always expect to do well every year going into it. If we don't, then there's no point in even participating. This year though,
we understand we have a very special group. Kids have been recruited to fill a specific role and they are accepting and fulfilling those roles very positively."
Parsons had the similar feeling that team is improving and working hard to adjust the pace for upcoming matches. Speaking of their training and preparation, she said: "They've been responding quite well. A lot more intense practicing I think and at game
level too, because they aren't really sure what they're up against. It's a higher intensity level, but they're showing us that they're able to do it, so that's nice to see."
There are only two sophomores in the ACC Team this year, while the freshman players have filled special roles in the team-line. Freshmen Lindsay Ponik and Allison Burley will serve as the primary setters for the team. The sophomore Krystin Inman will take
up the roles of setter and defensive specialist as well. Freshman LeAnn Strzelecki and Rogers City's Taylor Darling will be filling in the same position, which means ACC will have strong back row attack. Brianna Grimm and Jalyn Shepler have also been featured
on the team roster and they will be required to exhibit good offensive attack. Outside hitters Erin Willis and Melisa Carroll have good chemistry between them.
The Lumberjacks are set to go into action on Saturday at the Schoolcraft. Dietlin is determined to formulate an excellent plan for his team and lead them to success.
