The MP5 returns, 29 guns confirmed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 revealed – Sub Machine Guns
There is no doubt that Activision’s Modern Warfare series is one of the strongest franchises in the world of gaming. Gamers world over are eagerly waiting for the game’s release and jumping with excitement with every piece of information they get on the game.
Sadly for the game’s publisher though, the amount of leaks the game has experienced means that fans have gotten their hands on more info than they should have at this point. With the entire plot, including new characters like Sandman, leaked for the world to see, Activision were forced to announce the game earlier than they would have preferred to.
However, it seems that the arsenal of weapons players will get to run around and cause havoc with has been released. Well not exactly released, but confirmed by a combination of analyzing the various single-player campaign and multiplayer gameplay trailers.
Starting off with the Sub-Machine Guns, which are the weapon of choice in close quarters combat (CQB).
The biggest news on the SMG front is the return of one of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s fan favourite weapons: The MP5.
Absent from Modern Warfare 2, the MP5 was the first SMG players would get their hands on in the original Modern Warfare game, and whether a player was a beginner or a veteran, the weapon was a solid choice when it came to SMGs.
Also confirmed is the heavily overused AK-74U. The Russian SMG was one of the most used weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops, due to its frighteningly fast rate of fire and devastating damage. In fact, one may even liken it to the firearm equivalent of what Barcelona is in the football world: unbeatable.
Whether or not SledgeHammer, the game’s developer, decides to tone the AK-74U down a notch is still unclear, but none the less more gamers will be glad to hear of its inclusion.
Another stalwart of the Modern Warfare series has been the P90 which, once mastered, was hard to let go. With a slightly larger magazine than the other Sub Machine Guns and a terrifying rate of fire, the weapon was addictive.
The SKORPION is another SMG that players will remember, though not many gamers used it too often. While the weapon may have been lethal in one-on-one close quarters combat, the low magazine capacity meant the gun was only used occasionally.
Another fan favourite from Modern Warfare 2, the UMP45 is also confirmed to be in the three-quel of the series. If the AK-47U was the SMG of choice in Black Ops and the MP5 in Modern Warfare, then gamers would have to agree that the UMP45 was by far everyone’s favourite SMG, in Modern Warfare 2.
Rounding things up on the SMG front is the Vector. With a futuristic look and alarmingly quick rate of fire, the weapon was one gamers could rely on, though its low damage meant that players had to think twice if they wanted to take a target on at a slight range.
So far the MP5, AK-47U, P90, SKORPION, UMP45 and the Vector have been confirmed for Modern Warfare 3. However, the list is tentative and with the game’s release dated near the end of the year, one can expect a number of changes.
