The MTS Super-Spike Ten Volleyball Tournament celebrates 10th Anniversary
The MTS Super-Spike Ten Beach Volleyball Competition was officially launched on Friday, July 15 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. This year is the 10th anniversary of the competition that features beach volleyball games and musical performances from
local artists. The MTS Super-Spike Ten Beach Volleyball Competition is going to last till the evening of Saturday, July 16.
The games started later in the afternoon and were followed by a Retro Music performance on the first day of the event.
The MTS Super-Spike tournament was first organised in 2002 and since then it has successfully covered nine events. The famous Maple Grove Rugby Park welcomed a total of 278 teams in the competition. This is a large jump from the 217 beach volleyball duos
that were registered for the previous edition of the competition.
MTS Super-Spike was sponsored by Bud Light this year. In recent years, the competition has gained a reputation as one of the best and biggest outdoor beach volleyball tournaments in Manitoba, Winnipeg. Besides the beach volleyball competition, the event
has other prominent features that attract the masses to Winnipeg. The activity includes a music festival and creates a chance for Canadian underground Rock Music Bands to showcase their talent.
MTS Super-Spike is a great supporter of the Women’s National Volleyball Team of Canada. It raised $67,000 in the last edition of the competition and this is definitely going to increase this year. Since it is the 10th anniversary of the event,
the organisers have planned to feature extra segments. A new Masters Volleyball Division for senior players will be added. Besides, the major sponsors of the tournament, Bud Light will be giving away a lot of exciting prizes including a trip for two to UFC’s
Battle in New Orleans.
The event saw a record turn out on the opening day, which clearly showed the interest of the spectators. The event General Manager, Greg Paseshnik, expressed his delight with the good reception of the event. He is optimistic that the bach volleyball event
will surely be a runaway success this year.
