The Mad Robertson favourite for the Churngold Maiden National Hunt Flat Race

The Mad Robertson will be the bookmakers’ favourite for the Churngold Maiden National Hunt Flat Race at Chepstow in England on Saturday, February 25, 2012. The cash prize for winning the class-6 race is £1,754.
The 2 miles 110 yards track has attracted 13 runners and their names are: The Mad Robertson, Workbench, Tolkeins Tango, Bladoun, Lower Hope Dandy, Dunlough Bay, General Ross, Contador, Fitz Volonte, Seymour Alfie, Twin Barrels, Midnight Mustang and Red River
Run.
There was plenty of promise shown by The Mad Robertson in his debut race at Huntingdon in January, this year. Despite not being the favourite back then, he was able to finish as runner up by three and a half lengths.
This is only the second ever race for the five-year-old gelding, who might like the heavy conditions today. He will be partnered by A. J. Berry, who has got five NHF victories to his name.
The Mad Robertson is trained by Jonjo O'Neill, who will be pretty much optimistic about bagging £1,754 today.
Things will not be that easy for the race favourite, as he will be up against one of Paul Nicholls’ trained gelding, Workbench. He also made his debut in January, this year, but was unable to make an impression that time around.
However, the four-year-old gelding has the ability to fight for the top position. He will be ridden by young jockey, Harry Derham, who will also be looking for his maiden NHF victory today.
David Pipe’s runner, Bladoun, will also be a force to reckon today. He has entered a couple of NHF races in his career and finished in top three in both of them. However, he was unable to win his maiden race on those occasions.
The four-year-old gelding will be ridden by jockey, C O'Farrell, who has earned three NHF victories so far. The punters will be encouraged to out their money on this pair, as they seem to have very good chances today.
There are many other runners, who are yet to make their debut in the sport, but their skill cannot be doubted at all. This will make the race at Chepstow quite interesting for the spectators and the bettors.
