The Mall of America...how good is it?

I was thinking about taking my son and husband (son is 3 years old) to the mall of america for a three day getaway - i see that they have a nickeloden theme park there which looks awesome . and lots of shopping, but how awesome is it?

My mom went and said it was good, but most of the stores are just repeated throughout the mall several time!!

I didn't think it was that awesome.  All the same stores as any other mall in this country.  Might be funner for kids because of the rides and the aquarium.  But for shopping, no big deal.  I was just there in May.

It's fun to visit, but I wouldn't spend 3 days there.  The theme park would be fun for a 3 year old, but it's easily covered in less than a day.  There's also an aquarium and a Lego park inside the mall.  The mall itself has a few unique stores, but most of them can be found almost anywhere.  There are a lot of restaurants to chose from, but again nothing that can't be found elsewhere.  You'll also quickly get tired of walking as it's a big building and you'll still have to walk it all if you're only looking for certain stores.  I'd suggest spending a day, no more than 2 at the mall, and then use the other day(s) to go somewhere else in Minneapolis/St. Paul.  I'm not that familiar with the downtown areas, but somewhere there's a children's museum and big park along the river that looks really awesome.
